A History of the California State University Los Angeles

Cal State University Los Angeles opened its doors in 1947 on the old site of the University of California Los Angeles campus. Today, the university is one of 23 main campuses all part of the greater California State University network. With hundreds of majors available at the Los Angeles campus, students are sure to find a degree program to their liking, which suits their needs and will provide them with the tools for success in their chosen endeavor.

The California State University Los Angeles has a rich history of scholastic excellence. Students are able to attend classes and earn degrees for a myriad of subjects ranging from Chicano studies to nursing to aviation administration. Two of the newest programs offered are the Early Entrance Program and the Forensic Science program. The Early Entrance Program allows students of gifted intelligence between the ages of 10 and 16 to attend college with a focus on allowing unimpeded intellectual and creative growth. As of May 2007, the school also opened a brand new facility for forensics research, study and application.
