The California Graduate School in Los Angeles is a higher learning institution for those interested in helping their fellow human beings. Established in 1968, the school curriculum is geared to those folks interested in pursuing graduate degrees in the discipline of Psychology.
California Graduate School -- A Proud History of Challenge and Success
As a state approved school in Psychology, the California Board of Psychology allows doctoral graduates to take the state exam for licensure and practice. It is also recognized by the Veterans Administration, as a school certified to accept the GI Bill for military veterans. Though currently without regional accreditation, the school maintains a standard of excellence, allowing for California practice in psychology and marital/family therapy. In addition, the school's psychoanalysis programs are recognized by the Society of Modern Psychoanalysis based in New York state.
Degrees Offered at California Graduate School
The California Graduate School is proudly based in Los Angeles, but it also maintains satellite campuses in Irvine and Westwood. At these locations students are able to study and work toward state certifications of licensure by earning either a master's or doctoral degree in psychology or a master's/doctoral in marital and family therapy. In addition, the school offers myriad certificate programs, including:
-Psychoanalysis -Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy -Treatment of Sexual Disorders -Psychological Assessment -Gerontology (psychological afflictions of the aging population) -Forensic Psychological Assessment -Clinical Hypnotherapy -Domestic Violence -Child and Adolescent psychotherapy -Chemical Dependence Treatment -Family Law and Mediation -Biofeedback Therapy -Behavioral Medicine
While currently not accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges, the California Graduate School has recognized the need to offer its programs for student licensure and practice outside of California. The faculty and administration has plans to apply for accreditation in the near future.
